Bloodmoon, grapes, and boss catches

How the Update 16 Bloodmoon catch works when two players lasso, plus the boss names that do not all match.

Update 16, the Bloodmoon update, is dated March 8, 2026 on the update history. A boss guide dates the same update March 9, 2026. Use March 8 as the history date and treat March 9 as a one-day disagreement, not a second patch.

What the update added

  • Bloodmoon weather, with Bloodmoon Grapes on the map.
  • A boss catch that needs at least two players.
  • Bloodbound (2.5x) from feeding grapes. The feed is a chance.
  • A spin wheel on the map during the event.
  • Mutation Diffuser for $500,000.
  • More Forgotten Depths pets, and admin-spawned Mythic eggs called out as rare.

Weather rows say a weather event lasts about 10 minutes. The update video says Bloodmoon shows up about every 2 hours, and that the wheel can be spun once a day for free. Those two timings can both be true (a short weather window on a longer cycle, plus a daily wheel), but they are not the same sentence. Check the timer you see in game.

Boss catches

The catch bar does not move until a second player also lassos. A written guide says everyone who helped keeps the pet, and that bosses cannot be stolen. The update video describes a failed attempt because the player was not the best participant on that catch. If you are helping, confirm the reward text before you leave the animal.

Name in guides Where it is listed
King Seal Starting Island
Colossal Mammoth Snow Island
King Kraken Forgotten Depths
Boss Hydra Near water during Bloodmoon
Skeleton Hydra Dragon Island, on the four-boss table

Boss Hydra and Skeleton Hydra may be one animal under two writeups. Albino King Crocken is a video name with no island on the table. Ride something if you have a mount; the video's practical tip is that other players will reach a spawn first if you run.

A later video says a Boss Catcher stat on a lasso, obtained on Bee Island or Cave Island, lets you catch boss-category pets alone. That stat is not in the March lasso table. If your lasso shows it, you can test a solo bar. If it does not, bring a second player.

Grapes and the wheel

Pick up grape clusters and feed them to the pen pet you care about. Remove or hide a 1.1x mutation first only if the machine button matches what you want; see the items pages for the remove-versus-hide conflict.

The wheel is a physical object during Bloodmoon. One guide says one spin per weather appearance, with grapes, Bloodmoon Lucky Blocks, and coins. The video says one free spin a day and mentions a Bloodmoon Stag as a rare wheel result. Spin when it is available. Do not assume a second spin in the same weather.

Boss rewards include Bloodmoon Lucky Blocks. Those blocks are a fixed pool. Opening them during Aurora does not help.
